'It is not what you look at that matters. It's what you see.' – Henry David Thoreau
The reds of the silo structure frame and the perspective created looking through it attracted my eye to the silo and elevator structure last Sunday. Then it’s been about the textures within the image and those applied to the image.
Listening to – ‘Songs for the Philippines,’ a collection of many songs for a mere $10.00 on iTunes – a small, small donation to the Typhoon victims of the Philippines. It’s been One Direction’s ‘Best Song Ever,’ Pink’s ‘Sober,’ Paolo Nutini’s ‘Simple Things,’ Josh Groban’s ‘Brave,’ James Blunt’s ‘Carry You Home’ and Pitbull’s ‘Feel This Moment.’
Quote to Inspire – “The photographer is an armed version of the solitary walker reconnoitering, stalking, cruising the urban inferno, the voyeuristic stroller who discovers the city as a landscape of voluptuous extremes. Adept of the joys of watching, connoisseur of empathy, the flaneur finds the world ‘picturesque.’” – Susan Sontag, On Photography

'Why be reliant upon secular media sources, literary works penned by atheists, and embittered hearsay to inform your views on religiosity, or worse still to bring about the lack thereof, isn't that as sensible as asking directions to KFC from Ronald McDonald?' ―T. C. M

GROUND OR AIR THERE IS NO STOPPING FOR US
I absolutely LOVE that quote!! I have both stalked and strolled (and crouched and crawled). Perfect. The photo is of course great too … I am always drawn to red.
Hey there, LB …
Stalking, strolling, crouching, crawling – the quote does, in a sense, define the photographer in terms of active state – in the midst of being drawn to the picturesque; on another tack the quote has me consider Hemingway’s use of the phrase, ‘a moveable feast.’ A friend from Africa when encountering the Canadian Rockies for the first time used a similar phrase – ‘Let me feast my eyes.’
Reds are indeed something to encounter with a camera, as flaneur.
Take care … 🙂
Great HDR effect in the photo! Nicely done.
Hey there, Lady Fi:
Thank you for your kind words and for looking in; the image is HDR and then, there’s some new masks being applied from NiK Software – a new modality, Analog applications.
Take care … 🙂
